About the event
This RSVP event is for both those aking vows, and those attending to support them.
As you will see in the attached schedule, there will be a reception following the vows.
Traditionally sangha elders are also in attendance to witness people entering the community of practitioners. Â Dress should be uplifted.
While COVID policies have been relaxed in Pennsylvania for some time now, we ask those exhibiting COVID symptoms to not attend the ceremony. We encourage each participant to make decisions that are best for their health and comfort.
Download this second PDF of The Wisdom Seat chant book.
If you will be participating online, here are a few things to consider that will be helpful. These are just suggestions.
Creating a nice environment is key. This includes a clean and quiet room with a shrine. The shrine may include something like a rupa (image) or picture/thangka of the Buddha. The Buddha should be at eye level or higher.
Having fresh flowers, offering bowls of water which can be either 3, 5 or 7 bowls in number. You will want candles and incense.
Even though you're at home, your dress could be semi-formal.
If your friends or family would like to be there, that would be great.
You might consider a small celebration following this event.
