About the event

At the end of nearly every sitting, class, and retreat, we say the dedication of merit. Many of us know it by heart. Because we say it so often, it is easy to say it without hearing it.

In this Mindful Gathering, Michael Carroll and Bill Moriarty will take the dedication one word at a time. What is "merit," and how do we gather it? Why do we give it away at the end of practice? What does each word point to, and what changes when we say it with attention rather than from habit?

Whether you have recited the dedication thousands of times or are new to practice, this is an invitation to hear a familiar verse with fresh ears, and to bring it back to your own practice afterward.

Join us live on Zoom. There will be time for questions and conversation.
