On Sunday, November 9, 2025, The Wisdom Seat welcomed over 60 guests to the Swarthmore Friends Meeting House for an unforgettable premiere of "Journey to Golok: Takyak Pilgrimage." The event brought together dharma practitioners, curious seekers, and members of the local community for an evening that bridged continents and centuries of spiritual wisdom.
Renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher Anam Thubten opened the evening with a heartfelt introduction, sharing personal memories of growing up in the remote Golok region of Eastern Tibet. His stories painted a vivid picture of the landscape, the people, and the spiritual legacy of the 19th-century Dzogchen master Dudjom Lingpa, whose teachings continue to inspire practitioners worldwide. The one-hour documentary, created by filmmaker Catherine Hollander, followed four of Anam Thubten's students as they traveled to the remote hermitage at 13,000 feet, visited sacred caves where Dudjom Lingpa composed profound teachings, and practiced at sites that have been blessed by generations of realized masters. Following the film, guests gathered for a reception featuring light refreshments and warm conversation.
The Wisdom Seat extends deep gratitude to Anam Thubten for his presence and teachings, to Catherine Hollander for her beautiful filmmaking, to the four pilgrims who undertook this sacred journey, and to Kailash Fellowship for their partnership in bringing this event to our community. Special thanks to all who attended and contributed their generous donations. Your support helps sustain The Wisdom Seat's mission to create spaces for authentic spiritual inquiry and practice.
